The Purpose of Prayer
Abiding in Him. Leaning into the promises of the Savior. Desperately clinging to the hope of Jesus. Desiring to be more like Him, to know Him. That’s why prayer is such a powerful tool. ⠀
⠀
Prayer is our pathway to dependency. It is our hearts’ cry for more of Jesus. It is personal, intimate, and life changing. When our prayers move beyond “give me more things” to “give me more of You,” we begin to see all of our life’s motives change. The way we lead, parent, teach, work - all begin with Jesus. ⠀
⠀
He is our goal in life, our one true ambition. So don’t let the necessity of the immediate distract from the importance of the eternal. He has created us so that we might know Him. He bought us with His blood that we might be adopted as sons and daughters, to truly understand Him as a loving father. ⠀
⠀
John 15:1–5 (ESV): “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”⠀
